(4) Trotwood-Madison (8-3) vs. (1) Cin. Turpin (11-0)

Division II, Region 8

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Viking Stadium (Princeton H.S.)

Notable: Trotwood advanced with a 41-6 first-round defeat of Mount Healthy. Junior RB Antwan Gilbert gained 211 rushing yards to push his season total to 2,275 yards and 29 TDs. The Rams lost to Turpin 21-13 two seasons ago in a D-II, Region 8 semifinal at Centerville. Turpin, a member of the Fort Ancient Valley Conference, ranks second in the league in offense (behind D-I playoff participant Anderson) with 415.3 yards per game. QB Eric Martin passed for 172 and 163 yards in consecutive wins over Wilmington, in Week 10 and the playoff first-round win.

(3) Tecumseh (10-1) vs. (2) Cin. Winton Woods (9-2)

Division II, Region 8

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Centerville Stadium

Notable: Tecumseh topped West Carrollton 55-23 to get to the second round. It was the sixth time the Arrows scored at least 43 points during a season in which they boasted two 700-yard rushers — Kyle Sanning (796) and Dustin Holmes (725). Winton Woods lost only to D-I playoff participants Moeller and Anderson. RB Jeremiah Goins has gained at least 100 yards in each game, including 103 in a playoff-opening defeat of Ross.

(5) Tippecanoe (9-2) vs. (1) Col. DeSales (8-3)

Division III, Region 10

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Welcome Stadium

Notable: Tipp closed strong against Sandusky Perkins last weekend with four second-half TDs from Corey Johnson in a 34-6 win. Johnson scored on runs of 3 and 20 yards and catches from QB Ryan Landwehr of 26 and 8 yards after gaining 356 of his 657 regular-season yards in the final three games. DeSales took a 45-0 lead last weekend before beating Toledo Bryan 45-21 in the first round, aided by three TDs from Adam Griffin, son of OSU legend Archie Griffin.

(4) Circleville Logan Elm (9-2) vs. (8) Spg. Shawnee (8-3)

Division III, Region 12

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Hilliard Bradley Athletic Complex

Notable: Shawnee is the second-round surprise of the region after the Braves upset top seed Goshen 28-7 in the first round after taking a 21-0 first-quarter lead. Shawnee senior QB Evan Storts has passed for 758 yards and rushed for 793 and a total of 15 TDs. Logan Elm lost in the regional final last season to Eastmoor Academy.

(6) Monroe (9-2) vs. (2) Wyoming (11-0)

Division III, Region 12

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Kings Mills Kings Stadium

Notable: Wyoming, ranked No. 3 in the state, went through a shootout against Eaton last weekend in a 34-32 win. Monroe won what would be considered a surprising 12-7 defeat of CJ, which had been No. 1 in the region for several weeks this season. If it gets close, Monroe can rely on senior kicker Zac Eckert, who collected two FGs against CJ, including one of 50 yards.

(4) Kenton (10-1) vs. (1) Clinton-Massie (11-0)

Division IV, Region 16

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Troy Memorial Stadium

Notable: Next up for Maty Mauk: Clinton-Massie. The Kenton sophomore QB who leads the state in passing chewed up Valley View last week to the tune of 32-of-53 passing for 385 yards and five TDs. C-M advanced by beating Waynesville 43-0 behind Jordan Scanlon, who gained for 126 of the Falcons’ 315 total rushing yards.

(6) Carlisle (9-2) vs. (2) Alter (11-0)

Division IV, Region 16

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Monroe Stadium

Notable: Alter has won 26 straight since the two games the Knights won and then forfeited last season. So far, it’s been almost too easy; no team has been within 15 points of the Knights. Last weekend, Alter gained 494 total yards in a 42-0 defeat of Jonathan Alder to continue that dominance as bruising RB Cody Taulbee ran for 134 yards. Carlisle earned a milestone with its first playoff victory, a 21-13 defeat of previously undefeated North College Hill. Nick McGill and Jordan Jacobs combined for 275 rushing yards.

(5) W. Liberty-Salem (11-0) vs. (8) St. Henry (8-3)

Division V, Region 20

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Alexander Stadium, Piqua

Notable: Playoff mojo guided St. Henry, which is in its first postseason since winning a state title in 2006. Vic Fortkamp scored three times on passes from QB Brad Stahl to help the Redskins upset top seed North Union 28-3. All WLS has to do to get out of the region is go through two Midwest Athletic Conference teams, starting with the Redskins. WLS, though, is the last remaining undefeated team in the region after beating West Jefferson 3-0.

(6) Anna (9-2) vs. (2) Coldwater (10-1)

Division V, Region 20

When: 7:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Wapakoneta Harmon Field

Notable: This is a rematch of a Week 5 game won by Coldwater 27-13, and Coldwater enters with momentum after beating Hamilton Badin 41-0. Anna’s first playoff game was a bit closer, but the Rockets squeaked out a 20-17 defeat of Columbus Ready on a go-ahead TD from Wesley Hunsucker to Derek Billing with 2:15 left.

(5) Marion Local (6-5) vs. (8) Covington (8-3)

Division VI, Region 24

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Roush Stadium, Kettering

Notable: A .500 regular season didn’t stop Marion Local from beating Lehman Catholic 24-3 last weekend. Niles Keller carried the heavy load for the Flyers, rushing 21 times for 240 yards. Covington upset top-seeded Ansonia 28-7 to avenge a 35-7 regular-season loss. Ansonia had been undefeated.

(6) Southeastern (9-2) vs. (7) Ft. Loramie (9-2)

Division VI, Region 24

When: 7 p.m. Saturday

Where: Welcome Stadium

Notable: Fort Loramie earned its first playoff win on its first try, topping host Lockland 14-0. Its reward is getting a shot at Southeastern and talented QB Reed Florence, who tossed four TD passes in a 34-16 defeat of Waynesfield-Goshen.
