Chaminade Julienne, No. 4 in the Division II state AP poll, topped Cincinnati Roger Bacon 54-44 in boys high school basketball Tuesday, Feb. 2.
Jon Bibbs led CJ with 15 points, shooting 8-of-9 from the foul line, and Joe Staley added 14.
Jorian Hudson scored 21 points in a losing effort.
Chaminade Julienne improved to 13-2 (6-1 Greater Catholic League); No. 11 Roger Bacon fell to 11-4 (6-2).
Alter 48, Cincinnati McNicholas 42: The Knights used a strong start to defeat the host Rockets. Joe Thuney and Max Zukowitz led Alter with 13 points each, and Thuney grabbed 10 rebounds. Alter improved to 7-7 (3-4 GCL); McNicholas fell to 6-9 (2-8).
Fairmont 60, Fairborn 56: The Firebirds used a fourth-quarter rally to defeat the visiting Skyhawks.
Four players reached double-digit scoring for Fairmont, led by Kevin Sharick with 14. Fairborn sophomore Kendrick Williams scored 27 points.
Fairmont improved to 8-8; Fairborn fell to 3-13.
Centerville 54, Wilmington 44: The Elks avenged a 54-49 loss to the Hurricane from February 2009. Craig Ashworth scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Centerville and Matt Sullivan added 13.
The Elks outscored Wilmington by 13 points in the final quarter to seal the win.Quinten Rollins paced the Hurricane with 26 points. Centerville improved to 7-8; Wilmington fell to 10-5.
Marshall 71, Beavercreek 46: Tremayne Scott scored 22 points, Greg Gainey tallied 13 and Melvin Banks and Shawn Robinson added 10 for the Cougars. Marshall improved to 11-3; Beavercreek fell to 2-12.
