A lopsided first quarter helped the Fairborn boys basketball team (9-5) earn a 69-55 win over Miamisburg (8-6), but for the Skyhawks, this night was about something bigger.

In the second half, senior star Kendrick Williams became Fairborn High School’s all-time leading scorer. He finished with 16 points, which put him at 1,305 for his career.

Despite the final margin, the Skyhawks needed all of Williams’ points and then some. Both teams went on an offensive blitz in the fourth quarter, combining to score 61 points in that period alone.

Springboro 68, West Carrollton 58: Coming off a tough loss to Beavercreek, the Panthers (12-3) might have been licking their wounds a little bit as they entered their tilt at West Carrollton.

And they paid for it, as the Pirates (9-7) led the area’s No. 2 Division I team by a score of 34-28 at halftime.

West Carrollton spread the ball around while on the attack, with four players eventually scoring in double digits. But that wouldn’t be enough.

Springboro stormed back after the break to claim the victory and remain undefeated in the Greater Western Ohio Conference South with just three league games left on its schedule.

Panthers junior Maverick Morgan topped all scorers with 25 points, while Jack Mapes chipped in with 16, including four 3-pointers.

Meadowdale 57, Stivers 50: A third-quarter rally had the Tigers (5-10) primed for an upset, as they entered the fourth tied with the mighty Lions.

Stivers senior Khris Riddell put his team on his back during that third quarter, scoring 12 of his 18 points in that frame.

Meadowdale quashed thoughts of an upset in the fourth, though, mostly from the free-throw line, where the Lions went 8-for-10. Senior Brandon Harris helped clinch the win, scoring all seven of his points in the fourth quarter.

The star of the night, however, was Odis Shine. Meadowdale’s 6-foot-2 senior led all scorers with 19 points and added 14 boards.

Troy Christian 41, Dayton Christian 38: Nathan Kirkpatrick set a Troy Christian record with six 3-pointers to help the Eagles stave off the Warriors and remain undefeated in the Metro Buckeye Conference.

In the battle between the conference’s top two teams, Kirkpatrick came up huge. He scored a career-high 20 points, hit a late 3, and made a crucial free throw down the stretch.
