Brookville wins eighth straight
Courtney Boyd scored 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Brookville past Franklin 69-40 in high school girls basketball action on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The win kept Brookville undefeated at 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Southwestern Buckeye League’s Southwestern Division.
Brookville freshman Sidney Cera added 10 points, while Rachel Drinnon had 12 assists.
Brandi McDaniel led Franklin with 22 points. The Wildcats (7-4, 3-2) are on a three-game losing streak.
Chaminade Julienne 57, Cin. McNicholas 35: Samarie Walker scored 20 points to lead CJ.
Simonne Gage scored nine points and Sierra Gage added eight for the Eagles (8-4, 4-2 GGCL Grey North).
Amanda Conrad led McNicholas with 14 points.
Carroll 70, Roger Bacon 19: Carroll started the game with a 15-2 run and finished it by holding Roger Bacon scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Kelley Austria’s 18 points paced Carroll (9-3, 5-1 GGCL Grey North).
Waynesville 44, Monroe 37: Lauren Bunn had 10 points and nine steals for Waynesville, which improved to 7-3 and 4-1 in the SWBL Buckeye Division.
Katelyn Danner led the Spartans with 12 points.
Rachel Williams and Allycin Foster each scored 11 points for Monroe (2-7, 2-3).
Valley View 41, Eaton 38: With a minute left, Andrea Gibbs tied the game with a basket and Sarah Tipton’s free throws gave Valley View the lead.
The Spartans, who had not played since Dec. 30, shook off the rust to win their fifth game. Marissa Herlinger’s 12 points led the Spartans (5-4, 2-3 SWBL Southwestern).
Maggie Neanen led Eaton with 19 points. Ashley Neavin scored 10 for the Eagles (2-6, 2-3).
Milton-Union 58, West Carrollton 43: Amber Beeman scored 27 points and Katelyn Vincent added 13 as the Bulldogs got in the win column (1-9). West Carrollton fell to 0-10.
