Staff Report Updated 3:33 AM Thursday, May 27, 2010

Michael Bennett of Centerville High School has reached his limit: the end of the discus field.

The junior unloaded a career-best toss of 196 feet, 3 inches to set a Division I regional record at Welcome Stadium on Wednesday, May 26. D-II is today at Welcome Stadium.

Rally caps needed: Greenville was down to its last four outs before scoring four unearned runs to sting Kings 5-3 in a D-II softball regional semifinal. Middletown Madison needed just one more out to beat West Liberty-Salem in a D-III semi. But the Tigers tallied a pair of unearned runs for a 5-4 win.

On deck today: The area D-I road to the state baseball tournament runs through Cincinnati Moeller. Centerville takes its cut against the defending state champ Crusaders at 2 p.m. today in the regional semifinal at the University of Cincinnati’s Marge Schott Stadium.
