Centerville High School senior Jake Campbell has verbally committed to play basketball at Presbyterian College, an NCAA Division I program in Clinton, S.C.

Campbell, 7 feet, 255 pounds, is averaging 2 points and 2.3 rebounds for the Elks (1-2) and is a two-year starter. He also considered UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina, Colgate, East Tennessee State, Jacksonville and Belmont.

Centerville coach Jim Staley said Campbell will become the ninth Elks basketball player in the last 14 years to receive a college athletic scholarship to play basketball. Six have been centers, including UD starting junior Matt Kavanaugh.
