Chaminade Julienne might have turned a few heads when it knocked top-seeded Waynesville out of the Division IV, Region 16 playoffs with its 30-17 win Saturday.
For the Eagles, though, their focus firmly remains straight ahead.
“It’s what we expect every week. We watch film and we look at the other team and say, worry about us,” CJ coach Marcus Colvin said. “Worry about what we’re doing. Worry about us offensively. ... Those guys have done it every week. I’m very happy that we’re playing really good football in the playoffs.”
Next up for No. 5 Chaminade Julienne (9-3) is the Region 16 final against No. 3 Clinton-Massie (10-2). Game time is 7 p.m. at Mason’s Dwire Field at Atrium Stadium.
In the D-II, Region 8 final, No. 1 Trotwood plays No. 2 Kings in a match-up of 12-0 teams. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Friday at Welcome Stadium.
Trotwood beat Kings 53-24 in last year’s regional final.
Elsewhere around the Miami Valley:
• Springfield Shawnee (12-0) plays Jonathan Alder (12-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hilliard Bradley for the D-III, Region 12 title.
• Coldwater (9-3) plays West Jefferson (10-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Piqua’s Alexander Stadium in the D-V, Region 20 final.
• Marion Local (10-2) takes on conference foe Minster (9-3) 7 p.m. Saturday in Wapakoneta in the D-VI, Region 24.
This week’s winners advance to the state semis.
