Dayton Christian's Weber scores 46 in girls basketball opener

Lisa Weber scored 46 points in an outstanding performance to lead Dayton Christian to a 69-39 defeat of West Carrollton in Saturday’s girls high school basketball opener for both teams.

Weber finished with 10 field goals and converted 22 of 27 free throws.

Tri-Village 78, Franklin-Monroe 40: Senior Kayla Linkous scored 32 points to help Tri-Village win the Bill Burkett Tournament Championship.

Linkous was awarded tournament-MVP honors after scoring 56 points between the two games.

Haley Gray, who made the all-tournament team, led the Jets with 18 points.

Franklin-Monroe fell to 1-1; Tri-Village improved to 2-0.

Anna 67, New Bremen 21: The Rockets jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the New Bremen Tip Off Tournament championship. Morgan Huelskamp led Anna with 17 points and Cayla Bensman added 16. Anna improved to 2-0; New Bremen fell to 1-1.

Chaminade Julienne 53, Wilmington 30: Krista White led a balanced attack for the Eagles with 11 points and a strong defensive showing took care of the rest. CJ improved to 1-0; Wilmington fell to 0-1.

Madison 49, Oakwood 35: Olivia Philpot led the Mohawks with 20 points and Josey Harding added 13. Elizabeth Haley led the Jills with 15 and Claire Davis had 14. Madison improved to 2-0; Oakwood fell to 1-1.

Thurgood Marshall 42, Piqua 29: The Cougars survived a slow first-quarter start. Tierra Tidwell led a balanced Marshall attack with 13 points. Marshall improved to 1-0; Piqua fell to 0-1.

Carroll 73, Xenia 25: Four players scored in double figures for the Patriots, led by Kelly Austria and Madison Schroeder who each had 13 points. Carroll improves to 1-0; Xenia falls to 0-1.

Wayne 47, Celina 44: Dani Shafer hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to give Wayne a three-point lead with six seconds to play in the OVISCO Tournament at Celina.

The Warriors held a red-hot Celina offense to just 44 points after scoring 89 against Greenville in their first game. Wayne improved to 2-0; Celina fell to 1-1.

Tecumseh 56, Westerville North 45: The Arrows used a hot start to defeat Westerville North. Chelsey Davis had 15 points and Bianca Quisenberry added 14 to lead the Arrows. Tecumseh improved to 1-0.

Coldwater 58, Kalida 50: Courtney Wellmans scored 17 points, Jenae Muhlenkamp had 16 and Sarah Kanney added 12. Coldwater improved to 1-0.
