1. Fairmont (13-2): A 48-39 loss to Alter wasn’t enough to knock Firebirds out of top spot. Fairmont, which rebounded with 44-33 win over Wayne, has Centerville on Saturday and Beavercreek on Wednesday.
2. Fairborn (12-3): Big 52-49 win over Beavercreek pushed Skyhawks back to second, but momentum was short lived after rough 53-34 loss to Springboro. Key game comes at Miamisburg on Wednesday.
3. Beavercreek (11-4): Beavers righted the ship after two-game skid to Fairborn (52-49) and Chaminade Julienne (49-36). A win over Springfield (54-39) salvaged the week. Beavercreek gets another shot at Fairmont on Wednesday.
4. Vandalia Butler (11-4): Aviators won two games in convincing fashion, taking 22-9 halftime lead against Greenville and handing Piqua a 38-point loss. Showdown with Trotwood-Madison is Saturday.
5. Xenia (11-4): Buccaneers avenged earlier loss to Miamisburg and reclaimed the No. 5 spot following 53-41 win.
Division II
1. Alter (15-0): Alter knocked off Fairmont (48-39) on Monday but had little time to celebrate. Rest of the week has been devoted to preparing for Chaminade Julienne today at the Nutter Center.
2. Tippecanoe (13-1): Big win over Bellefontaine (79-33) and narrow win over Greenon (58-53) gave Red Devils their 13th straight.
3. Carroll (11-3): Patriots knocked off Cincinnati Purcell Marian (77-23) last week, but face a tough week with Fenwick, Miamisburg and Chaminade Julienne.
4. Chaminade Julienne (11-5): Eagles scored big wins over Hamilton Badin (33-30) and Beavercreek (49-36). Good preparation for what lies ahead: Alter and Carroll this week.
5. Bellbrook (10-3): Two more wins stretched winning streak to eight. Note to opponents: Don’t let the Golden Eagles get off to a fast start. Bellbrook took control early with 22-9 halftime lead against Valley View and 45-10 halftime lead against Eaton.
1. Middletown Madison (16-0): Ally Malott’s 25 points was nearly enough on its own to hand Carlisle a 57-29 setback. Preble Shawnee (last night), Dixie, Waynesville and Northridge stand in the way of a perfect regular season.
2. Anna (13-1): We’ll excuse the Rockets for their first slip of the season, a 45-43 loss to Fort Loramie. Anna was held to its lowest offensive output thus far. Rockets want to finish strong with the postseason nearing.
3. Fort Recovery (10-3): Six-game winning streak came to an end to Minster (38-36). Indians were held to just 13 points in the first half, but stormed back and nearly pulled out the win with 17 points in the fourth quarter.
4. Brookville (13-2): Blue Devils had won three straight entering Thursday’s rematch with Bellbrook. They have a week off before playing Franklin next Thursday.
5. Waynesville (11-3): Spartans have won six straight and 10 of their last 11 (entering Thursday’s game with Northridge). Big game with Bellbrook on Saturday will give Waynesville an indication how far along the Spartans are.
1. Fort Loramie (12-3): Redskins grabbed the stop spot by beating Jackson Center and handing Anna its first loss of the season, 45-43. Earlier win over Marion Local propels Loramie to No. 1.
2. Marion Local (10-3): The Flyers showed just how formidable they are by handing Delphos St. John’s its first loss of the season, 46-44.
3. Miami Valley (13-2): Rams have won seven straight, including nice win over GGCL opponent Purcell Marian 55-40. League battle with Troy Christian is Monday.
4. Troy Christian (11-6): Had a good week with win over Emmanuel Christian and three-point win over Lehman Catholic, before running into Miamisburg (64-27).
5. Lehman Catholic (9-5): Sandwiched a pair of wins over Greenville and Arcanum between tough loss to Troy Christian. Played Fort Loramie on Thursday.
