Division I

1. Fairmont (26-2): Even without Makayla Waterman, the Firebirds should be as impressive as ever.

2. Springboro (23-3): The Panthers are loaded with returning starters.

3. Fairborn (21-3): How the Skyhawks rebound while Brooklyn Pumroy recovers from ACL surgery will be key.

4. Centerville (17-6): Junior Alex Henning was the Elks’ leading scorer and first team All-GWOC Central.

5. Wayne (14-8): The Warriors faded after starting 10-1 last season but return three starters and a couple of starting transfers.

Other teams: Beavercreek, Lebanon, Miamisburg, Northmont, Piqua, Sidney, Springfield, Stebbins, Tecumseh, Troy, Vandalia Butler, West Carrollton, Xenia.

Division II

1. Carroll (23-5): The Patriots were streaky last season, starting 13-0 then losing four straight. Placing runner-up at state and returning UD signee Kelley Austria is another good start.

2. Chaminade Julienne (17-8): Seniors Simonne Gage, Raytea Long and Emily Michael are all four-year starters.

3. Alter (19-6): Senior Allison Bockrath averaged 12 points and four rebounds last season and is headed to Cornell to play college ball.

4. Bellbrook (21-2): The Golden Eagles lost only to Carroll and CJ last season. Guess who they must beat to advance deep into the postseason?

5. Kenton Ridge (18-5): Michigan State signee Mariah Harris (19.3 points, 10.7 rebounds) makes the Cougars a formidable postseason contender.

Other teams: Bellefontaine, Belmont, Ben Logan, Eaton, Franklin, Graham, Greenon, Greenville, Indian Lake, Marshall, Meadowdale, Monroe, Northeastern, Northwestern, Oakwood, Ponitz Tech, Spg. Shawnee, Stivers, Tippecanoe, Trotwood-Madison, Urbana, Valley View.

Division III

1. Anna (27-1): The high-scoring Rockets overcame a one-point loss to Tippecanoe by winning out and claiming a state title.

2. Miami East (18-6): The Vikings’ only problem is Tri-Village also resides in the CCC.

3. Madison (20-4): Brittany Shields and Abby Jerger return as starters, but it’s Olivia Philpot who could vault the Mohawks back into state contention. She’s considered among Ohio’s best sophomores.

4. Versailles (12-11): Most of the team returns in addition to Chloe Warvel, a transfer from Greenville.

5. West Liberty-Salem (17-4): An upset to Versailles in their tourney opener is probably enough to fuel the Tigers.

Other teams: Arcanum, Brookville, Carlisle, Coldwater, Dayton Christian, Dixie, Dunbar, Fenwick, Greeneview, Milton-Union, National Trail, Northridge, Preble Shawnee, Tri-County North, Waynesville.

Division IV

1. Tri-Village (24-2): If the Patriots are ever to break through Fort Loramie and advance to the final four, this is the season.

2. Minster (21-3): The Wildcats were a rare perfect 9-0 in winning the MAC last season.

3. Fort Loramie (22-6): The Redskins’ challenge is to overcome seven graduated seniors from a program that went to state the last two seasons.

4. Marion Local (13-9): The Flyers should once again contend for the MAC title and more.

5. Miami Valley (20-3): Senior Shelby Carpenter (14.0 points) is a good starting point for the Rams.

Other teams: Ansonia, Bethel, Botkins, Bradford, Catholic Central, Cedarville, Covington, Emmanuel Chr., Ft. Recovery, Franklin-Monroe, Houston, Jackson Center, Jefferson, Lehman Catholic, Mississinawa Valley, New Bremen, New Knoxville, Newton, Russia, St. Henry, Southeastern, Troy Chr., Twin Valley South, Xenia Chr., Yellow Springs.
