Lebanon wins GWOC South title; playoffs unsure

MIAMISBURG — Lebanon’s playoff destiny is out of its hands.

So the Warriors stayed focused on what they could control, rolling to a 42-7 win at Miamisburg on Friday, Oct. 30.

Lebanon scored on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back, clinching the outright Greater Western Ohio Conference South Division title.

“I think tonight was a reflection of the whole season,” Lebanon coach Shawn Lamb said. “Our leaders stepped up and we played well in all phases of the game.

“This is a special team. I hope we live to play another week, but if this was the last game, these guys will go down in Lebanon High School history as a classy team that knew how to win.”

Senior running back Trey Bonny set the tone for Lebanon, sprinting 67 yards for a touchdown on the game’s opening play. Bonny finished with 139 yards rushing on nine carries and also scored on a 22-yard screen pass late in the first half.

“All the credit goes to the offensive line. They opened some great holes,” Bonny said. “I had room to run everywhere.

Lebanon (8-2, 4-0 GWOC South) rolled up over 400 yards of offense and eclipsed the 2,000 yard barrier in both rushing and passing on the season.

Quarterback Dusty Isaacs completed 12-of-14 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns — the screen pass to Bonny and a 45-yarder to Chase Cochran.

“They wanted to take away our deep ball and put two guys over the top of Chase,” Isaacs said. “But that left fewer people in the box so Trey ran wild.

The Warriors built a 35-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Miamisburg (1-9, 0-4 GWOC South) got its lone score at the end of the half on a one-yard plunge by quarterback Jake Sears.
