Oakwood boys six strokes behind leader in D-II state golf

Kenton Ridge leads the pack with a first-round 342 and Oakwood trails by six strokes in the Division II boys state golf championship at North Star Golf Resort in Sunbury.

Springfield Shawnee’s Clark Engle was the Day 1 medalist with a 79.

Matt Miller and Hunter Clark of Kenton Ridge each shot 82 and Oakwood’s Tripp French had an 83.

In Division III, Cedarville junior Jordan Reese shot an 80, good for third place after the first round on Ohio State’s Scarlet course. Lehman Catholic’s Ben Thieman had an 84, and Middletown Christian is third in the team competition with a 345.
