The difference was foul shots as Carroll edged West Carrollton 49-45 in boys basketball action Tuesday.

D.J. McCommons hit both ends of a 1-and-1 to put Carroll up by four with two seconds to play. McCommons and Jake Johnson led the Patriots with 15 points each.

Carroll shot 12-of-15 from the foul line, West Carrollton 5-of-12.

The Patriots trailed 17-4 early in the second quarter before beginning their rally.

Carroll improved to 2-0; West Carrollton fell to 0-2.

Beavercreek 59, Troy 41: Jalen Camper paced ’Creek with 19 points and Ryan Sedlar added 10. Zack Martinez had 17 points in a losing effort. Beavercreek improved to 1-1; Troy fell to 1-1.

Northmont 85, Fairborn 59: Devon Carter scored 21 points and Jamal Trammell had 13 to lead a T-Bolts attack that saw 13 players score. Billy Jackson tallied 19 points in a losing effort. Northmont improved to 1-0; Fairborn fell to 2-1.

Lebanon 66, Monroe 57: Ben Esposito had 27 points and 13 rebounds to pace the Warriors and Zach Beckner scored 14. Chris Sloneker had 15 points for Monroe. Lebanon improved to 1-1; Monroe fell to 0-2.

Meadowdale 72, Dayton Christian 57: Brandon Harris led the Lions with 15 points, Odis Shine had 14 and Carleigh Carter added 12. Jay Zollars paced the Warriors with 21 points. Meadowdale improved to 3-0; Dayton Christian fell to 0-1.

Girls Basketball

Tri-Village 53, Houston 37: Kayla Linkous tallied 19 points in the win, making her the Patriots’ career scoring leader with 1,674 points.

Shaye Thomas also had 11 points for Tri-Village. Kristi Elliot led Houston with 13. Tri-Village improved to 5-0; Houston fell to 4-1.

Madison 57, Valley View 39: Meghan Miller led the Mohawks with 17 points, and Josey Harding had 16 points with 11 rebounds. Madison improved to 5-0; Valley View fell to 2-1.

Northridge 42, Newton 26: Marissa Reynolds paced the Polar Bears with 18 points and 12 rebounds and Cadijah Spears had 16 points and 14 boards. Northridge improved to 3-2; Newton fell to 3-1.
