KETTERING — John Staley scored 21 of Chaminade Julienne’s first 26 points and unloaded a career-high 34 to carry the Eagles to an impressive 64-44 defeat of Chillicothe in the final day of Flyin’ to the Hoop Monday at Trent Arena.
Justin Bibbs added 16 points for CJ (9-3).
Zach Johnson tallied 22 points for the Cavs (9-4).
Vandalia Butler 63, Lakota East 43: Jake Greer shook off a shooting slump by torching fill-in East for a game-high 22 points. He missed just once in 15 combined field-goal and free-throw attempts.
“The past two games, I wouldn’t say it was a huge slump, but it wasn’t what I’m used to,” the senior said.
East was led by Robbie Harpring’s 13 points.
Both teams are 5-7.
HYCA (Texas) 83, Trotwood-Madison 69: The Rams had no answer for Justin Jackson’s 30 points. The uncommitted sophomore canned 8-of-11 shots, 12-of-13 free throws and 2-of-4 3-pointers.
The Rams (2-4) were led by Jamar Hammonds’ 21 points. James Brown added 17 points, and Kendrick Mallory and Dexhontae Bennett had 10 each in a balanced effort.
Norcross (Ga.) 56, Greeneview 53: Eric Green’s shot at the buzzer went in and out to end the Rams’ upset bid. Norcross has won four of the last seven Georgia big-school state titles.
Brandon Goodwin led the Devils with 15 points. Harold Givens added 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Evan Bradds led Greeneview (9-3) with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Green scored 14.
Franklin 64, Medina 49: The Wildcats (11-0) turned up the defensive heat in Flyin’s most physical contest.
Jacob Rossi led Franklin with 22 points. Luke Kennard added 20 points and Justin Rossi had 16.
Medina’s Billy Geschke had 21 points. The Bees (1-8) have been without 6-9 Michigan State signee Kenny Kaminski all season as he recovers from a broken shoulder.
La Lumiere (Ind.) 58, Westerville North 54: Antonio Drummond scored 18 points to lead the Lakers, a recent prep school power based in Laporte.
LaLu, as they’re called back home, have players from Croatia, Canada, the Sudan and Belgium.
Taivion Thomas led North (9-3) with 19 points.
Grace Prep (Texas) 60, Thurgood Marshall 42: A two-point second quarter was the Cougars’ undoing.
Isaiah Austin led Grace with 15 points.
Mark Alstork had 16 points for Marshall.
