As usual, the Dayton area is loaded with standout high school football players. Heading into Week 1, here are our top 20:

Johnathon Barbee, sr., RB, 5-10, 160, Bradford: First-team All-Ohio; rushed for 2,088 yards last year, including a game-high 353.

Bam Bradley, sr., DB, 
6-2, 200, Trotwood-Madison: 94 tackles; 20-plus offers, including Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan State, Penn State and Pitt.

Cameron Burrows, jr., CB, 6-2, 190, Trotwood-Madison: 65 tackles, 6 INTs; numerous offers, including Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee; among Ohio’s top recruits for class of 2013.

Austin Bruns, jr., QB, 6-4, 205, Coldwater: 2,500 yards passing, 24 TDs.

Luke Creditt, sr., QB, 
6-2, 205, Waynesville: 2,500 yards passing, 31 TDs; rushed for 900 yards and 9 scores.

Taylor Decker, sr., OL, 6-8, 275, Vandalia Butler: Committed to Notre Dame.

Marcus Foster, sr., RB/DB, 6-0, 195, Troy: Committed to UC; All-Ohio DB; 912 yards rushing.

Cole French, sr., QB, 
6-5, 195, Eaton: First-team All-Ohio; 2,780 yards passing, 27 TDs, 54 extra-point kicks, two FGs, four INTs on defense, 36 yards per punt.

Darrien Howard, jr., LB, 6-2, 241, Chaminade Julienne: Shoulder injury limited him to five games last season; still had 60 tackles.

Austin Jarbo, sr., QB, 6-0, 190, Carlisle: Transfer from Preble Shawnee; 2,317 passing yards, 900-plus rushing yards.

Caleb Keeton, sr., K, 
5-10, 175, Waynesville: All-Ohio last two seasons; 58 of 59 PATs.

Mike McCray, jr., OLB, 6-4, 230, Trotwood-Madison: Another top recruit, offers from Tennessee, Purdue, Syracuse; 54 tackles, 8 sacks.

Benny McGowan, sr., OL, 6-4, 300, Centerville: Committed to Michigan State.

Armani Miller, sr., WR, 6-0, 175, Wayne: 28 catches, 477 yards (17.0 average), 4 TDs.

Ifeadi Odenigbo, sr., DE, 6-4, 210, Centerville: Blue-chip recruit has great speed. Ohio State and Notre Dame on his short list.

Lovell Peterson, jr., C, 6-4, 280, Wayne: Best center prospect in area since Alter’s Nick Mangold.

Kaleb Ringer, sr., LB, 
6-2, 220, Northmont: Committed to Michigan.

Mike Simpson, sr., QB, 6-2, 200, Trotwood-Madison: 1,423 passing yards, 15 TDs last year at CJ.

Kyle Stahl, jr., QB, 6-5, 230, St. Henry: 2,480 passing yards, 19 TDs.

Malik Zaire, jr., QB, 6-1, 185, Alter: Has yet to start a game and already has an offer from UC; best Knights QB prospect since Jeff Graham.
