Kayla Linkous’ dominating performances have shown she is a special player. On Thursday, she joined a special club.
Linkous scored 23 points in Tri-Village’s 77-28 win over Mississinawa Valley, surpassing 2,000 in her career. Linkous already has more than 1,000 career rebounds so she becomes the third girl in Ohio basketball history to have 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Linkous also grabbed 14 rebounds and Shaye Thomas and Krystal Falknor each scored 17 for the host Patriots, the Dayton Daily News’ No. 1 D-IV team.
Tri-Village improved to 17-1.
Miami Valley 57, Middletown Christian 28: The Rams clinched first place in the Metro Buckeye Conference for the second straight year after winning it for the first time in school history last year. Shelby Carpenter had 16 points and 13 steals. Miami Valley improved to 16-2.
Marshall 50, Ponitz 24: Kendra Moss tallied 14 as the Cougars clinched the City League title. Marshall improved to 16-1.
