Travis Trice scored a game-high 22 points and Wayne blitzed Massillon Jackson 62-53 in the 8th Annual Scholastic Play-by-Play Classic at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center on Saturday, Jan. 23.
The Warriors, the DDN’s top-ranked Division I team, improved to 11-2. Jackson fell to 11-2.
Jefferson 66, Harvest Prep 56: Adreian Payne had 21 points, 18 rbounds, five assists and three blocks as the Broncos overcame an early 13-point deficit in the opening game of the Play-by-Play Classic. Devin Foster added 19 points and Joby Jackson 11 for Jefferson.
Carroll 43, Alter 34: Trez Jones scored 18 points and was 8-for-14 from the line to lead Carroll.
Girls basketball
Waynesville 50, Oakwood 48: Amber Bell hit four foul shots in the last 30 seconds and had 18 points and five assists to lead the Spartans. She hit four 3-pointers and was 4-for-7 from the foul line. Lauren Bunn added 16 points.
Alex Miller led Oakwood with 14 points. Clair Davis scored 12 points and was 6-for-8 from the free-throw line. The win was the sixth in a row for Waynesville (11-3).
Oakwood fell to 7-8.
Alter 68, Cin. McNicholas 36: Eleven players scored for Alter in the rout, led by Allison Bockrath with 13 points. Whitney Dabbelt and Kaila Howe each scored 10.
Brookville 84, Milton-Union 24: School records fell for Brookville. Courtney Boyd broke her own record for points in a game with 43. Rachel Drinnon set a new school mark for assists with 16.
Miamisburg 70, West Carrollton 24: Chelsea LaPorte scored 26 points and topped 1,000 for her career.
Gymnastics
Elk Invitational: Beavercreek’s Megan Gill won three events — vault, bars, and floor. Mason “White” took the team title over second-place Centerville “Black.”
