OXFORD — Miami University had 13 student-athletes sign national letters of intent to play collegiate sports for the school, Wednesday.
Seven of those athletes, including Middletown standout Brianna Lipscomb, signed to begin their college educations and play for the Miami RedHawks women’s softball team.
Remy Edwards (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville), Tiyona Marshall (Gahanna Lincoln/Columbus), Megan Mattera (Barrington, Ill./ Lake Zurich), Kylie McChesney (Puyallup, Wash./Puyallup), Shanyn McIntire (Romeo, Mich./Romeo) and Kaitlin O’Donnell (Avon by the Sea, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) joined Lipscomb as first-day signees for the 2012 season.
Two student athletes decided to continue their volleyball careers at Miami, beginning with the 2011-12 season. Meg Riley (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and Chelsea Visk (Salem, Wis./Westosha Central) signed their letters of intent on Wednesday.
Two-time Southwestern Buckeye League player of the year Sarah Chaney, of Madison High, is expected to sign her letter of intent to play volleyball for Miami on Monday.
The men’s golf team added four signees on Wednesday. Scott Cahill (Chicago/Jacobs), Brantley Kushner (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County), Luke Shaughnessy (Peterborough, Ontario/Holy Cross Catholic) and Dayton Oakwood senior Corey Wickerling all signed letters of intent to play for the RedHawks, beginning with the 2011-12 season.
