NASHVILLE — Former Miami University standout Justin Mercier scored his first career NHL goal Thursday, Feb. 4, in the Colorado Avalanche’s 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators.

Mercier, a member of last season’s Miami team that reached the national championship game, has two points in five games this season for the Avalanche.

Mercier, 22, was a sixth-round pick of Colorado in the 2005 entry draft.
