MU’s Patterson headed to NCAA meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. — Miami senior Rachel Patterson set a school record and finished fifth Sunday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship.

Patterson crossed the line in 20 minutes, 40.39 seconds over the 6K course at Katke-Cousins Golf Course. The top four finishers not on NCAA qualifying teams advanced.

Patterson, who earned All-Great Lakes Region honors for the second straight season, led the RedHawks to a seventh-place finish.

The NCAA meet is Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind

• Miami finished 18th in the men’s race.

Senior Michael Perry covered the 10K distance in 31:51.69 to pace the RedHawks.
