RedHawks teams win Miami Open
OXFORD — RedHawks runners claimed four of the top five spots to lead the Miami University women’s cross country team to a win at its own Miami Open, Saturday morning on Miami’s Western Campus course.
The RedHawks totaled 19 points, placing first, second, third, fifth and eighth, to win the team title. Ball State took second with 49 points while Wheeling Jesuit finished third with 65 points. Rio Grande also had two runners compete at the meet.
• For the second straight year, junior Jarrod Eick earned the individual title to lead the Miami University men’s cross country team to a team victory as the RedHawks won their own Miami Open, Saturday at Miami’s Western Campus course.
The RedHawks finished with 25 points, including taking the top three spots, to win their home meet for the second straight year. Cedarville finished second with 50 points followed by Wheeling Jesuit with 63 points and Rio Grande with 91 points.

RedHawks win home tourney
OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawk volleyball team captured the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Invitational for the first time since 1999 Saturday with a convincing 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-17) victory over Alabama A&M. It is the second tournament win for Miami this season, as it previously won Indiana State’s Quality Inn/ASICS Classic. The RedHawks improve to 8-2 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 3-10.
Amy Raseman was named the Best Western/Sycamore Inn Tournament’s Most Valuable Player. She had 27 kills and seven block assists over the weekend. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Cassie Farrell, Jenn Caylor and Meg Riley.
Lisa Treadway led the way with 10 kills. Riley just missed a triple-double with nine kills, 12 assists and nine digs. Amy Kendall was the Red and White leader in assists with 23, while Tori Clifford had 10 digs in her first career start at libero. Miami hit .298 for the match, and held Alabama A&M to a .042 hitting percentage.
