OXFORD — Senior wide receiver and co-captain Dustin Woods ended his Miami University career in style, hauling in a 6-yard touchdown catch from Zac Dysert in the third quarter Wednesday, Nov. 18. It was his first touchdown in more than two years.

Woods, who has been hampered by a shoulder and hamstring injuries over the past three years, made five catches for 51 yards against Buffalo. He had made only one reception in Miami’s five previous games.

“Just being able to be in there felt really good,” Woods said.

He added that being sidelined by a hamstring injury during much of his senior season “was a challenge for me, but it was good for me to go through, to be a leader in a different way, being a vocal leader.”

The former Purcell Marian High School standout finished seventh on Miami’s career receptions list with 120 and sixth in career receiving yards with 1,730.

Coombs’ record day

Miami senior Brayden Coombs not only got to set the team record for receptions in a game with 14, but also did it with his father in attendance. Something which has not happened very often this season.

Kerry Coombs is the associate head coach and defensive backs coach of the fifth-ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

“Brayden has done a tremendous job,” Miami head coach Michael Haywood said. “Coach (Brian) Kelly let his dad come out of practice early so he could walk his son out onto the field.”

A QB’s last hurrah

Miami senior quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh, who had lost the starting job to Dysert earlier in the season, saw substantial action in Wednesday’s finale and fired a 36-yard touchdown pass to wideout Jamal Rogers with 6:01 left in the game.

Raudabaugh finished his final game 11-for-20 for 101 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

2 receivers sidelined

Buffalo senior wideout Naaman Roosevelt and Miami junior wideout Armand Robinson, who are their teams’ leading receivers, both missed Wednesday’s game with injuries.

Robinson was unable to play because of a hip-pointer and finished the season with 67 catches for 788 yards and four TDs.
