OXFORD — The Miami University men’s basketball team will play at Duke, the defending national champion, on Nov. 16 in the O’Reilly Auto Parts College Basketball Experience Classic, tournament organizers announced today, July 8.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the RedHawks, who finished 14-18 last season, and Blue Devils, who went 35-5 after winning the NCAA Tournament and are a preseason favorite in several polls.
Duke is a preseason favorite in several polls, is coming off a 35-5 season in which it won the 2010 NCAA Tournament after capturing the ACC Tournament.
“I’m excited for the challenge of facing the defending national champions and having a chance for our players to play in one of the greatest atmospheres in college basketball at Cameron Indoor Stadium,” Miami coach Charlie Coles said.
“This will test our players very early in the season, and I look forward to taking part in this tournament.”
Miami will host a sub-regional event as part of the CBE Classic. Dates and opponents for the sub-regional will be announced later.
Other teams playing in the tournament include Kansas State, Gonzaga, Marquette, Princeton, James Madison, Presbyterian, IUPUI, San Diego State, Bucknell and Green Bay.
