Osborn named MAC East Player of the Week
OXFORD — The Mid-American Conference announced Monday that sophomore guard Courtney Osborn (Fishers, Ind.) has been named the MAC East Division Player of the Week after three 20+ point performances last week. It is the second time in her career she has won this award, having previously earned it on Nov. 30, 2009.
Mavunga MAC East’s Co-player of the Week
OXFORD — Miami University junior forward Julian Mavunga (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg) was tabbed the Mid-American Conference East Division Co-Player of the Week. Mavunga shot a scorching 73.3 percent from the field for the week, including 66.7 from 3-point range. He averaged 16.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg while dishing out five assists and tallying four blocked shots last week. Mavunga shares the weekly East Division honor with Buffalo’s Byron Mulkey.
Redhawks hockey ranked sixth
OXFORD — After its first bye week of the season, the Miami hockey team stayed put at No. 6 in the USCHO.com Poll for the third straight week, but moved up two spots to No. 6 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll, both of which were released Monday.
Yale remained No. 1 in both. New Hampshire, which Miami split with to open the season, moved up a spot in both polls to No. 2. The next polls will be released Jan. 3, 2011.
