Anyone can predict Tiger Woods will return to win The Masters or the Cincinnati Reds will finish in the middle of the pack in the National League Central.
With that in mind, here are some different predictions for the 2010 sports year:
• Ohio State will win the Big Ten again. Fans will still call for coach Jim Tressel’s head. Penn State coach Joe Paterno announces he will retire ... in 10 years.
• Tony Stewart — giving the other drivers a one-lap head start — will still win the Prelude to the Dream at Eldora Speedway. And Danica Patrick will have a respectable showing.
• I’ll take my 10-year-old daughter to her first Bengals game. And she’ll learn some new words.
• My 7-year-old daughter will meet her sports idol in person: Brutus Buckeye. She’ll enjoy his performance more than Terrelle Pryor’s.
• The winter Olympics in Canada will capture our attention with stories of courage and inspiration. And Canada’s mascots — Miga the Sea Bear, Quatchi the Sasquatch and Sumi the Thunderbird — will be better than what China gave us. Also, they’ll contain less lead.
What do you think will happen in 2010?
