Commentary: Looking forward to seeing Buckeyes’ throwback jerseys

OK, I’m going to run a little against my close-to-the-vest spending habits here.

I kind of like the idea Ohio State is going with a throwback jersey for the Michigan game in two weeks, even though I understand it’s another marketing ploy to separate all of us from our money.

This isn’t so much about honoring the 1954 National Championship team as it is for Nike and OSU to sell more shirts to fans.

I know I’m years beyond buying one of those jerseys, but in my heyday of purchasing sports shirts and stuff, I would have welcomed alternative lounge-wear. I love it now that baseball has hundreds of different combinations of uniforms — for batting practice, day games, night games, weekend games, throwback games.

If your team has only one jersey, you buy it and wear it until you get tired of it, and wear it again. That’s no fun.

You ought to be able to have a jersey for work, one for leisure, one to go grocery shopping and one to use while washing your car.

Seriously, who said all jerseys must come in white and gray, and that’s it? I like the idea of different logos as well.

I didn’t say I was going to buy one, but I’m still not against the idea.

Too bad you can't buy one there were only 2k made and the hardcore fans bought them out should of been one per customer at least that's all the buckeye corner said was released. So a marketing ploy i think not in the grand scheme anymore then Adidas sponsoring Michigan's gear and Jerseys. I also heard the pregame commentary from ABC and many were spouting off how it would effect our play for the worse. I thought not and was proven right. I wish i did have one i have never owned any osu clothing.

I'd love to see the bearcats go to a BCS bowl, but even if they're undefeated they're not going to the championship. If UConn scores 45 on you, you aren't really a top 10 team. I know the Big Ten has gone down, but the Big East in football really is bad. It really doesn't matter since the NCAA doesn't recognize a National Champion anyway, the BCS does, and you get voted into the game, instead of getting there via a playoff. That's why I never watch these Bowl/exibition games.

It is time to recognize the Cincinnati Bearcats! They are a team that is not only on the rise, but in the hunt for a National Championship. I am a huge Buckeye fan and always have been and always will be, but i am a huge fan of the Bearcats also! Ohio State will not have a chance to play in the NC Game this year, everyone should support and rally around the Bearcats and bring a possible NC championship back in the state of Ohio! Support the Bearcats on another great year Go Bearcats and Bucks!

Yes .... The Buckeyes will wear the throw-back uniforms of the 1954 Ohio State National Champions- the Ohio State Buckeyes - for the Michigan Game on Nov 21st . That 1954 Ohio State Team had Howard Hopalong Cassady - The Heisman Trophy winner + OG Jim Parker -The Outland Trophy winner ...+ the Buckeyes pounded Southern Cal in the Rose Bowl in the Trojans backyard . Go Bucks !
