COLUMBUS — A look at the 2009 Ohio State football team, by the numbers:

39,574,083 — Total attendance at Ohio State's 511 games at Ohio Stadium since it opened in 1922, an average of 77,444.

3,605,000 — Jim Tressel's estimated salary, in dollars, for 2009 (not counting benefits, bonuses and a $40,000 contribution to his retirement plan).

3,000,000 — Cost, in dollars, of new ribbon boards along each side of the balcony and the new scoreboard at the closed end of Ohio Stadium (sports marketing giant IMG picked up the tab).

1,300,000 — Original construction cost, in dollars, of Ohio Stadium in 1922.

4 — Consecutive Big Ten titles shared or won outright by the Buckeyes, heading into the 2009 season (school record is six from 1972-77); also, teams who have won more games alltime than the Buckeyes (Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska).

3 — Games the Buckeyes will play before they attend their first class of the fall semester on Sept. 23; also, Ohio State's ranking in home attendance in the nation in 2008, behind only Michigan and Penn State; also, losing streak in games televised by Fox Sports (national title games in 2007 and 2008, Fiesta Bowl in 2009).
