WEST CHESTER TWP. — And then there were six.

Lakota West incoming senior linebacker Jordan Hicks has trimmed his list of colleges down to six, he said Thursday morning, June 25.

From the initial list of 16 schools, Hicks revealed that Texas, Ohio State, Florida, Southern Cal, Georgia and Alabama remain.

“It’s a combination of the feeling I get when I talk to the coaches,” Hicks said. “Those are the ones I feel most comfortable with.”

Hicks (6-foot-2, 220 pounds) is the No. 1-rated outside linebacker in the country in his class, according to Rivals.com, and the 16th prospect overall.

Hicks does not have any official visits lined up, but said he’d like to visit Texas, Florida and Ohio State for sure.

The next step, he said, is to narrow the list down to three or four schools prior to the start of the season.

“It’s a process,” West coach Larry Cox said. “He feels good about the schools left on the list. Obviously at this point, somebody has to drop off because you’re only allowed five official visits. One more will drop off, if not more. Right now, we’ll focus on the schools at hand.”

Here’s what Hicks had to say about each school:

Texas: “I went down there last year, and I got a really good vibe from them. They welcomed me when I was down there.”

Ohio State: “I’m up there all the time — a lot more than any school. I have a good relationship with the whole staff. It’s a really nice place, and I like what’s going on there.”

Florida: “I talk to Coach (Urban) Meyer a lot. Me and him have a really good relationship going on, and I’m planning on going down and seeing him sometime this summer after a basketball tournament.”

USC: “It’s a different type of place, and I like that. It’s West Coast. They have the reputation that they’ll come in here and kick your (butt). Flat out, that’s how they feel. That mentality I like. I like what they have going on also.”

Georgia: “I’ve always really liked Georgia. I’ve talked to (linebackers) Coach (John) Jancek and (head) Coach (Mark) Richt. They’re really nice people. I went down there last year and liked the campus. It was nice.”

Alabama: “I’ve built up a really good relationship with (linebackers) Coach Sal (Sunseri). He’s a real good guy. I had a video conference with them and that went really well.”

It's nice you have your pick of top college football colleges . Look at the Coaching staff closely and ask yourself , " Is the coaching staff I want to play for because they'll be you boss over the next 3 or 4 yrs " . As far as playing Venues The Ohio Stadium is the best . The swamp in Florida is one of the great football atmosphere's too . Large stadiums : Michigan , Penn State , Tennessee and Ohio Stadium are the only ones seating over 100,000 per game .

Buckeyes for sure. SEC peaked and is on the way down. Big Ten on the way up. After Tebow leaves Florida will be right back where they were before he showed up (losing 3-4 games a year) GA never does much. Next year with TP as a junior, the Bucks will be in the Natl Championship game. Don't be fooled, go to OSU.

tOSU and USC both produce beastly LB's. It's gotta be one of the 2. Preferably tOSU because I'm a grad, so I'm extremely biased. Also, he is not from Samoa or Tonga or wherever USC get their LB's from. He's a Buckeye. Mark it.

Best football is played in the south. If you are fast enough, Georgia would be the place. They are really going to be great for a few years. If you are not so fast Ohio St would be for you. They always have a nice team till they play teams with great speed. Then not so much.

OSU is where the action is at. Dayton is dead, UD is dead.
