About the
Yellow Jackets

Gani Lawal averaged 15.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game and led the Atlantic Coast Conference in double-figure rebound games (18) and double-doubles (15) last season. Iman Shumpert finished second nationally among freshmen in assists (5.0) and in steals (2.1). In nine seasons with the Yellow Jackets, coach Paul Hewitt has gone 154-131, reaching the NCAA championship game in 2004 before losing to Connecticut. They opened the season with a 100-59 win over Florida A&M.

About the Flyers

They’re 5-4 against ranked teams since 2007-08. UD averaged nearly 14 turnovers per game last season but had just six in the final exhibition game against Northern Kentucky and only nine in the 90-80 season-opening win against Creighton. Chris Wright appears to have elevated his game, making 9-of-12 shots against the Bluejays, including both 3-point attempts. Sub Chris Johnson had 18 points and 15 rebounds in the opener.

FYI

The Flyers pride themselves in playing tough defense, but they gave up 46 points in the first half against Creighton — equaling the most they surrendered in a single half during all of last season. They tightened up in the second half against the Bluejays, and UD coach Brian Gregory’s hope is that his team limits Georgia Tech’s second-chance and transition points.

Quote

“(Tech is) deep, big, quick and athletic. But because of the way our guys play and compete, we’ve been able to fare pretty well in those situations and against those kind of challenges.” — UD coach Brian Gregory

Kurt is the cornerstone of the defense, without him they don't even bring close to the same defensive intensity.

just look at the +/- for the creighton game

UD is very underated, and when does Huelsman wake up and realize hes a senior,I mean cmon,4 years and he still cant score, defensivly he looks slow against a more athlectic center,if we dont get more out of the 5 spot, this team will no more than be average at best, its gonna be a long year if your center averages 0-4 points a game and is in foul trouble by the 1st TV timeout, you cant cover up in the paint score by painting yourself yellow Huelsman, wake up,your a frigging senior!!
