FAIRBORN — Wright State sophomore guard Vance Hall was a steady member of the Raiders lineup, starting eight times in the first 20 games, before he suffered a concussion in practice on Jan. 19.

He went up for a rebound, had his legs taken out from under him and went down. He missed two games and went scoreless in the three games when he returned.

But Hall found a groove this weekend, scoring eight points against Wisconsin-Green Bay on Friday and tying his career best with 13 points in WSU’s 70-46 win against Milwaukee on Sunday.

Hall made 4-of-6 shots and 4-of-4 free throws while adding three assists and two steals.

“When you’re coming back, you don’t feel as aggressive and in a sense of like a fog,” Hall said. “You don’t have the game you want to play.”

He has responded with back-to-back productive games, totaling 21 points in 69 minutes, including five rebounds against Green Bay.

“He’s two plays ahead of everybody else (mentally) because he’s two plays behind everybody else athletically, that’s just a fact,” said WSU coach Billy Donlon. “In order to make up for that, he has to be two plays ahead.”

First block: WSU freshman Reggie Arceneaux, perhaps not surprisingly for a 5-foor-9 point guard, entered the game with zero blocks this season. Then with about 12 minutes left, after a scramble left Milwaukee’s 6-9 Kyle Kelm open underneath the basket, Arceneaux swatted as Kelm went up for a layup and blocked the ball away.

Arceneaux’s parents visited from Charlotte, N.C., this weekend and saw Arceneaux score 12 points against Green Bay on Friday and 14 against Milwaukee on Sunday.

Tough offensive night: Milwaukee’s Shaquille Boga scored a career-best 10 points to match Tony Meier for the team lead as the Panthers struggled offensively throughout. They shot 31.8 percent, 6-of-20 from 3-point range and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line while compiling 16 turnovers.

Around the Horizon League: Despite a 71-53 loss against Youngstown State on Saturday, Valparaiso remains in first place at 11-4 (18-9 overall), a half-game in front of Cleveland State (20-6, 10-4). Behind them, Youngstown State, Butler and Detroit are tied for third at 9-6, 1.5 games behind CSU and two games behind Valpo.

Detroit rallied to beat Green Bay 77-74 on Sunday to reach 8-2 in its past 10 games and pull into the three-way tie for third. Milwaukee fell to sixth place with Sunday’s loss.

Stats: WSU shot 68.2 percent in the second half, including 5-of-5 from 3-point range. ... The Raiders made 15-of-17 free throws. ... WSU outrebounded Milwaukee 28-26.

Etc.: WSU held its Academic Recognition ceremony for athletic department student workers and athletes at halftime on Sunday. It included men’s basketball players John Balwigaire, Jason Cuffee, Cole Darling, Kendall Griffin, Julius Mays, A.J. Pacher, Alex Pritchett and Matt Vest.
