About Wright State

The Raiders produced their best offensive performance of the season in a 70-46 home win against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Sunday, shooting 57.1 percent and placing four players in double figures, led by a career-best 21 points from sophomore forward Cole Darling. That snapped a three-game losing streak, and the Raiders enter the game in seventh place, one spot out of the lowest seed that hosts a first-round Horizon League tournament game. Mays remains the only player who averages double figures in points, and Battle holds the team lead in rebounding, at 3.7. The Raiders rank 27th nationally in scoring defense, allowing 60.2 points per game, but they are 327th nationally in scoring offense, producing 58 points per game.

About Detroit

The Titans, picked second in the Horizon League preseason poll behind Butler, have surged, winning eight of their past 10 games to tie Butler and Youngstown State for third place. McCallum, the preseason player of the year, is second in the league in scoring, fourth in assists (3.8 per game), fourth in minutes (33.7), sixth in free-throw percentage (76.1) and seventh in steals (1.5). Detroit leads the league in scoring offense (72.1 ppg) with five active players who average better than nine points per game (including reserve Eli Holman at 11.5) while ranking last in scoring defense (68.0).

FYI

WSU will hold its Senior Night ceremony honoring Mpondo, the team’s only senior, on the Nutter Center court following the game.

Quote, unquote

“They’re playing the way that people, when they made their preseason picks, had expected them to play. They’re very talented; they’re very athletic.” — WSU coach Billy Donlon.
