'Lady Be Good' off and running at WSU

Wright State University's local premiere of the 1920s Gershwin musical "Lady Be Good" continues through June 1 in the Creative Arts Center on campus.
Greg Hellems is director and co-choreographer with Joan Walton, guest choreographer from Los Angeles. The cast includes Amber Preston and Jason Brown as Susie and Dick Trevor.

• Springfield Stage Works will present Joseph Heller's "Catch 22" at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, May 22-24, and May 30 and 31 in the Bushnell Building, 14 E. Main St. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.
• The Dayton Playhouse, 1301 E. Siebenthaler Ave., will have a YouTheatre summer course for ages 6-13 from June 16-28.

• La Comedia Dinner Theatre, 765 Central Ave., Springboro, is seeking production assistant interns for its upcoming production of "Beauty and the Beast." They must be available June 15 through Aug. 31, and will assist the production crew throughout the run of the show, work during load in, load out and in various shops.

• Auditions for a new play by Tony Dallas will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, May 19 and 20, at the Xenia Area Community Theatre, 45 E. Second St.
The play "Voice from the Home, or We The Fruit of Poverty Knoll" is about growing up at the Ohio Soldiers' and Sailors' Orphans' Home, which operated from 1870-1995 and was the only state-run orphanage in Ohio. The play was assembled from interviews with more than two dozen people who grew up or worked at the home.
Actors will play multiple roles. A multiracial cast of men, women and children is needed. Performances will be the weekend of July 5 in the auditorium on the former grounds of the home and the following weekend at the Miles Budd Goodman Amphitheater of Antioch College, Yellow Springs.
