FAIRBORN — Brandon "Bo" Kunkle of Fairborn is taking a shot at love on MTV.
Kunkle, 24, is one of 30 men and women who will compete for the heart of model and actress Tila Tequila on "A Shot at Love 2 with Tila Tequila." The bisexual-themed reality dating show premieres at 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.

Kunkle, a 2001 Fairborn High School graduate, was contacted in December 2007 by MTV about appearing on a reality dating show — several years after submitting a casting application to the network at the suggestion of a friend.
"It kind of just snowballed from there," Kunkle said. "I went out there for some casting and long story short, I made it out to California."
Kunkle could not divulge much about filming "A Shot at Love" earlier this year in Los Angeles. The series pits 15 straight men and 15 lesbian women against one another for the affections of Tequila.
"I went out there with the intention of meeting this amazingly beautiful, talented person," he said. "She met every one of my expectations and even exceeded them.
"The whole experience was amazing, and I had an absolute blast and would definitely do it again," Kunkle continued. "Not just Tila herself, but the whole cast was awesome."
Kunkle works in the Dayton area as a bartender and DJ. He also coaches Fairborn High School Skyhawks football.
He is bracing himself for the recognition that appearing on "A Shot at Love" may bring.
"I was preparing myself for once the show started to embrace this whole semi-stardom thing, but it actually got a little jump-start ahead of me," he said. "Once the commercials and the previews and the trailers started showing, the whole buzz started going."
Kunkle will coach Fairborn Skyhawks football through fall, but then his options are open.
"I'm Fairborn at heart," he said. "I bleed blue, blue and white. I'll never forget where I come from, but if something comes of this experience, I'm ready to embrace it and run with it."

Continued from below… Don’t judge a person if you don’t know them. Look up FAE or Fundamental Attribution Error. That’s something people tend to make a lot of the time in today’s culture. All I’m saying is grow up people your guys are thirty and forty year old people arguing over this stuff, when you don’t even know anything about the guy. Ask the kids that know him and they’ll tell you that he was a stand up guy,”when he was around your kids”. I’m 18 and I know better than to insult others.

Bo was my coach and he was probably the greatest coach I had throughout my high school football career! He hardly cussed on the field; he never brought up his personal life to a great detail; and he was probably more in control of his actions than any of the other coaches. Bottom line is that when he was coaching, that’s all he did. Bottom line is that he cared for his players’ well being and helped all the kids he was coaching no matter how good or bad a player they were.

Please keep in mind that MTV is a show for high schoolers and college-aged people, and even some younger and older people watch. High schoolers are already watching the show whether he was on it or not!

he was the only person on the show that showed any class. im not familiar with the area that you guys are from, but in my opinion, you all should be very proud of him and be glad he represented your area with the class that he did. plus hes the cutest thing!!

I just read all of these comments! Why in the world would anyone speak so horribly about someone like that way ya’ll have?! I think that a good leader/coach is one that has lived and learned! I may not agree w/ everything on the show but I think some should watch…learn some class from Brandon and learn that sometimes the bigger man is the man who walks away! BTW Fairborn City Schools and Sports has always needed help…maybe this young man is just what they need!!!!

Hi all…I went to high school with Brandon and although I was not a friend of his, I feel that this was an excellent opportunity for him! If ya’ll would watch the show you would see that he appears to be a very nice young man! He was one of very FEW people on the show who took everything in stride, was there for the right reasons and is obviously a true man for not retaliating against the young boy who head butted him! Brandon if you read this I support you 100%!

Do we not have any morals or standards these days. This man should not be allowed to be around children, i.e., coaching them or anything else. Yes, what he does in his spare time speaks highly of what he is and does. This behavior is completely unacceptable for teens who are at a very impressionable age. I would never want him coaching any of my kids, no matter what age they are!

Our Fairborn Schools should not be allowing someone of this caliber to be coaching our children. Yes people, what you do in your spare time, does matter when you are dealing with kids! Wake up! Do we not have any morals and standards in this world today? No wonder our kids are falling apart, when it’s okay to have someone doing this kind of stuff and then to say it’s okay to let him be around our kids! No way, not mine! He better never be!!!!

I totally agree. Nothing Brandon has done on this show bring any discredit to Fairborn High School or the football team. Parents are free to NOT let their children watch and it is not like he is advertising what school he coaches for either.
Fairborn schools are in such p**s poor shape you would think they might welcome the added attention which can only be a positive thing.
The show itself is not my cup of tea but hey to each his own. I will only watch it because of Brandon.

What Brandon does while not coaching, as long as he’s not doing drugs or breaking any other laws, shouldn’t matter to the general public. If you actually watched, he isn’t the crazy, horrible role model, he’s been a pretty good boy thus far :) And as a mom of a child in Fairborn City Schools, more power to him. Did anyone think that maybe he could help our football team? We could use it. And if you don’t want your child to see it, don’t let them watch. GO BO! FHS Grad 2001

Hey folks don’t take yourself so seriously “in weeping for our youth”. It’s MTV, a network for the non-serious viewing …not one show is 60 Minutes or Opra like. This show is like Super-sloppy Double Dare meets Dynasty. I think this Show is a Hoot!!! I could just watch some CSI in which someone is MURDERED every show for drugs, money and whatever else. It is on at prime viewing for all not at 10pm est. on a school night!!

I find it simply amazing that a grown women such as Shannon and Judy can be the judge of what the Fairborn Football Team is learning from Brandon !! I definitely think that Brandon’s personal life shouldn’t have an impact on his coaching abilities. All the irate comments on here are a little ridiculous. I don’t think that Brandon’s appearance on a dating reality tv show is going to ruin your child. What harm could this possibly cause anyone? If anything, this will bring some more attention to a unique town that is under-recognized.

Why should he have to give up the coaching job to live his dream? Who cares about this so called “Fairborn Reputation” if he can teach these kids football and they respect him? Brandon is a good coach, and his personal life does not change that. So what if the whole football team was/is watching, we’re not talking about 1st graders here. I know personnally that my son is intelligent enough to know how much things are magnified on TV. Go Bo! We’ll see you in the fall :)

I have to agree with Judy. Fairborn has a bad enough reputation as it is and our youth need a positive role model to look up to, not someone that’s going to appear on a show like this. If he’s looking for love, that’s fine, then give up the coaching job and go live the dream. I’m sure Mr. Scarberry has already received tons of complaints from parents and I’d be surprised to see Bo coaching in the fall.

This man is coaching your children. Hello?? Young, impressionable, youths watching their coach act like an idiot. We wonder why our children are in trouble? I think Fairborn HS should re-think having this man around their children. What kind of role model shows children from the start of the show that fighting, arguing, retaliation, violence, drinking, and sex is appropriate for children to view? You know the entire football team was circled around the TV waiting to watch their coach on TV.

That show is disgusting. Even if I knew the guy, I still wouldn’t watch it. Dating shows like the ones on MTV and VH1 are so tacky. I weep for the youth of America.
