Oakwood-raised actor Rob Lowe, family survives flood

Fans continue to express gratitude that Dayton-area raised actor Rob Lowe and his family are safe and sound.

“The Parks and Recreation” star and his clan had a frightening brush with Mother Nature last week and had to be rescued from their vacation home in Grasse in the South of France.

Three months worth of rain fell in four hours, according to a Daily Mail article.

Lowe’s 19-year-old son John Owen Lowe posted pictures and videos about the ordeal to his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

"Thank you to the fireman that saved us from this nightmare. Happy for us all to be safe, thoughts to others," he posted on Twitter last Tuesday night with a photo of the high waters.

The first floor of the family’s home was submerged.

Lowe also posted a picture of the devastation to his Instagram.

"This is is right outside the house. Was twice as high at the worst, just before sunrise," he wrote Wednesday with a photo of the raging water.

Now 50, Lowe attended Oakwood Junior High School before moving with his mother and brother to California at age 12.
