What/where/when? The Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area is planning the “Blue Moon Affair” from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Schuster Center in downtown Dayton.
Why are they celebrating? This annual event raises money for the organization’s Youth Empowerment Center, which provides youth ages 7-17 a place to congregate that offers literacy and entrepreneurship training, social skill building opportunities and mentoring.
What’s in store? Special performer for the evening is Dayton native Daniel Beaty who is an actor, writer, singer, composer and poet. He’ll perform his latest one-man production, “Through the Night.” The evening also includes a cocktail hour, dinner, music and a presentation from the Youth Empowerment Center.
Making a difference: Through the agency, young people receive social skills and character development education with the goal of increasing their personal and professional achievement. The program emphasizes community service, volunteerism and higher education.
Hoping to clear: $10,000.
Dress: “Blue tie.” Guests are encouraged to wear a blue dress, suit, tie and/or accessories.
Tickets: $60 per person, or $400 for a table of eight. Call (937) 341-5000 ext. 153.
Sponsors: The event is presented by Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio.
