It’s another one of those weekends where it’s too hard to pick just one great free event.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, the Dayton African-American Cultural Festival will take place at RiverScape Metro Park in Dayton.
On the same day, the Asian Cultural Festival will take place in Miamisburg at Library Park.
Go to one? Go to both?
Here’s are some highlights from each festival.
African-American Cultural Festival
There will be live entertainment, including an African drum ensemble offering a drum clinic.
An art pavilion will feature traditional African and current artwork. There also will be dance groups, a fashion show and face painting and others. But most unique to the festival will be the replica of an African village.
Asian Cultural Festival
The festival will include food booths and cultural displays. Entertainment includes traditional dancers, acrobats and martial arts.
A family activity center will allow children to learn about other cultures. Kids also can learn ethnic dance, music and storytelling.
Lessons in crafts like origami, kite-making, mask-making and decorative string-tying also will be available.
