AIDS Resource Center Ohio will benefit from a weeklong series of special menus and exclusive promotions offered by 26 Dayton-area independently owned restaurants.

The promotion has been dubbed “Dream Week” and will be available to diners from June 1-6. A special sneak-peek kickoff event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Taj Ma Garaj, 300 Perry St., in downtown Dayton.

Tickets are $50, which includes beer, wine and food provided by participating restaurants.

The event is similar to Restaurant Week in that $1 from each “Dream Meal” purchased will benefit AIDS Resource Center Ohio. But restaurants are using different approaches and special menus with different prices, rather than the signature Restaurant Week tradition of charging a set price ($20.09) for a three-course meal.

For example, The Barnsider in Harrison Twp. is offering 30 percent off two of its entrees, the Horseradish-Crusted Salmon ($12.25 after discount) and its 10-Ounce Cut of Prime Rib ($11.20), while The Oakwood Club is offering a $10 gift card to those who order from a special menu of four entree choices.

A list of participating restaurants’ menus and promotions is available at www.
daytonindependents.com.

Restaurants that have agreed to participate include Bahn Mai Thai Café, The Barnsider, Buckhorn Tavern, Bullwinkle’s Top Hat Bistro, Café Boulevard, Caffé Anticoli, Cena, C’est Tout, The Chimneys Inn, Christopher’s Restaurant, Coco’s Bistro, The Dock, El Meson, Giovanni’s, Harrison’s, La Piazza, L’Auberge, Madison’s Bistro, Meadowlark Restaurant, The Oakwood Club, The Original Rib House, Pacchia, The Pine Club, Rue Dumaine, Savona Restaurant and The Wellington Grille.

AIDS Resource Center Ohio is producing a cookbook featuring recipes for some of the dishes at the Dream Week Kickoff and during Dream Restaurant Week. These cookbooks cost $25 and will be available for sale at the Dream Week Kickoff, at some restaurants or by contacting ARC Ohio offices directly at (937) 461-2437, ext. 2025.

AIDS Resource Center Ohio (ARC Ohio) is a nonprofit organization that provides services to those infected, affected and at risk. Proceeds raised from Dream Week will help ARC Ohio provide support services, HIV testing and counseling, prevention education and other services. The organization is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Dream Week is sponsored by The Dayton Independents, Square One Salon and Spa, Boston Stoker, Rosemount Estates, Penfolds, MillerCoors, Bonbright Distributors, Med-Pass, Macy’s, Dayton Power & Light Co., South Dayton Acute Care Consultants, Kettering Health Network, Premier Health Network, North American Spine, and ABC 22/Fox 45.
