DAYTON — It’s an event that takes riverfront dining to a whole new level.
The Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s fifth annual Taste of Miami Valley and a companion wine-tasting event, Take a Sip for Scholarship, will be at RiverScape, 111 E. Monument Ave. between North Main Street and Patterson Boulevard in downtown Dayton on Friday, Sept. 11, in conjunction with Urban Nights.
About 20 restaurants will serve samples of their dishes from 5 to 11 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets will be available for purchase in exchange for the food, wine and beer samples. Tickets cost $2.50; some samples will require more than one ticket.
The Take a Sip for Scholarship wine tasting will take place under a tent adjacent to the Taste of Miami Valley. That event costs $30 at the door, with proceeds benefitting the Twin Towers Orphan Fund and the MVRA Scholarship Fund.
“It’s an important event because it’s a part of Urban Nights and it allows restaurants to introduce themselves to a new clientele, to a large number of potential customers,” said Amy Zahora, the MVRA’s executive director.
Restaurants that have signed up to participate for the first time this year include Amelia’s Bistro in Bellbrook, Brixx Ice Co. in Dayton, The Caroline in Troy and The Melting Pot in Washington Twp.
Live music will be provided by Deron Bell from 5 to 8 p.m., and Spungewurthy from 8 to 11 p.m.
