Larry Sparks, Clay Hess headline free Miami Valley Bluegrass Fest

Larry Sparks, and The Clay Hess Band are the headliners this year at the Miami Valley Bluegrass Festival set for Sept. 16.

Sparks tops a lineup of eight acts for the bluegrass fest, now its third year at Riverfront Park in Miamisburg.

The former International Bluegrass Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year will be joined on the bill the band of Hess, an Athens, Ohio, native and former lead guitarist for Ricky Skaggs.

The other acts for the day-long show include: Hammertowne, Nightflyer, Branded Bluegrass, The Surly Gentlemen, The Vintage Ramblers and The Repeating Arms, organizers said.

The concert is free this year. It is scheduled to run from noon to 11:30 p.m.
