The good news? The fourth year for Jungle Jim’s Cheese Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.

This year, there will be more than 400 cheeses available to sample from all over the world.

The bad news? It’s sold out.

Here are a few reasons why, if you don’t have tickets to this year’s event, to get this on your radar for next year.

THE CHEESE

Cheese is one of the international supermarket’s most popular items with 1,400 to 1,600 different cheeses available for purchase at any given time — ranging from suppliers who are close by in southern Ohio to others from tiny, remote villages in Europe.

“We’re always excited and proud to feature cheeses and charcuterie from local and regional dairies and producers, so we encourage festivalgoers to seek them out while they’re walking the floor. And, of course, we’ll have our fresh-made mozzarella and a choice selection of olives from around the world, and those are always a highlight,” said Jared Bowers, social media and content coordinator. “No matter where you go in the world, cheese is a part of the food culture there. So it makes sense that it’s such a big part of what we do at Jungle Jim’s.”

UNLIMITED BEER, WINE WITH VIP

The massive cheese sampling show is an opportunity to explore. VIP ticket holders get in an hour earlier and come with wristbands to visit the bars for unlimited beer and wine.

Alcohol is available for purchase with a general admission ticket.

MAC ‘N CHEESE

New this year is the Mac ‘N Cheese Alley, with recipes and samples of that classic American dish from Montgomery Inn, Troy’s Cafe, Flipside and Parker’s Blue Ash Tavern.

“No matter what your taste — sophisticated or simple, extravagant or easy-going — cheese runs the flavor gamut … it’s great for just about any and every occasion imaginable. Cheese is just awesome,” Bowers said. “We have several experts on staff, actually, with well over a decade of combined experience. The mastermind behind the Big Cheese Festival is Brad Hacker, manager of The Cheese Shop.”

CHEESE ART

Sarah Kaufmann, Guinness World Record recognized Cheese Carver, will be on hand creating works from blocks of cheese over the course of the whole weekend.
