The 20th Annual Taste of Greene County takes place Sunday, April 23, from noon to 3 p.m. at Wright State’s Nutter Center featuring 25 area restaurants offering up some of the food they do best.

This year’s event will feature food from the following spots:

  • Holiday Inn Dayton - The Wright Place
  • City Barbeque
  • Young’s Jersey Dairy
  • Level-UP Nutrition
  • ele Cake Company
  • Beef O’Brady’s
  • Primanti Bros.
  • Packy’s Sports Bar and Restaurant at The Hope Hotel and Richard C. Holbrooke Conference Center
  • Panera Bread
  • Fresh Thyme Farmers Market
  • IHOP
  • Smoothie King
  • Jeet India
  • bd’s Mongolian Grill
  • Bar Louie
  • Bravo Cucina Italiana
  • Giovanni’s
  • Reza’s Roast
  • Jet’s Pizza
  • Salsas Mexican Bar and Grill
  • Costco
  • Bob Evans

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $13 for seniors and military and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children ages 6 and younger are free.

If you don’t have lunch plans, it’s always a fun stroll through getting to sample different dishes that you might not otherwise.

For those of you not able to change gears today and make it, here is a quick list of just a few upcoming, mostly inexpensive, food events you might want to be aware of that are coming up so that you can plan accordingly.

APRIL 27: BAR LOUIE BEAVERCREEK IS TURNING 10

Bar Louie at The Greene is celebrating a decade in business with a party including $3.25 martinis and $1.25 domestic bottled beers until 9 p.m. and $3.25 local Dayton beers and spirits throughout the evening. Live entertainment will be there from 9 p.m. to close. Bar Louie in general has some of the best happy hour specials at The Greene throughout the week. The restaurant’s $1 burgers on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. until close is a definite value if you are looking to go out on the cheap during the week.

APRIL 27: DOROTHY LANE MARKET SPRING FLING PASTRY & FOOD SHOW

740 N. Main St., Springboro

The description of this wonderful event promises that pastries are your passport to the foods of far away places with a world-inspired menu inspired by the food cultures of France, Mexico, Germany, India, Canada, Japan, Italy, and even American cuisine. Your ticket gives you access to try more than 30 exclusive pastry creations as well as fine food and wine. Tickets are $50 each or $25 with 2,500 DLM points. The event runs from 7-9 p.m. and I would advise to get there right when it starts to maximize your time and tastes.

APRIL 29: SPRINGFIELD MASONIC COMMUNITY FOOD TRUCK RALLY

With proceeds to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank, this is a tasty event that will do good work in the community. The event runs from noon- 6 p.m. with free admission, raffles and live entertainment from Common Thread and Above the Law. Featured food trucks include Loafin’ Around, Pitabilities, Raging Bull Pizza, The Queen’s Table, Thai 1 On,Sweet P’s; Hunger Paynes, The Drunken Waffle, The Wicked ‘Wich of Dayton, Pa’s Pork, Rudy’s Smokehouse, Kays Kitchen and Zombie Dogs.

MAY 2: PATIO POUNDERS AT LILY’S BISTRO

On May 2 Lily’s Bistro will have $3 tastes of eight different “patio pounder” wines including bubbly, rose and white wines, as well as special pricing on select bottles and a menu of wine snacks available for purchase. Wine experts, along with a few guest bartenders, will be on site to guide guests through the various styles and flavors. The best part is the event does not have a set start time,so show up anytime between 5:30 and 8 p.m. and sit a spell on that gorgeous patio. While it is free to get in, Lily’s is asking that anyone interested register online for a free ticket for planning purposes. The number of available registrations are limited.

It’s amusement park season and Kings Island is no stranger to food events. To kick off some different flavors in May, Cincinnati food trucks will be rolling into Kings Island every Friday offering park guests a new culinary experiences each week. The event is open to all guests with park admission.
