Enjoy free local art as part of Artswave Days

A free arts day is coming to the region on Saturday, Feb. 10, as part of ArtsWave Days, a series of 12 unique days that will span the three months of the ArtsWave Community Campaign.

Fitton Center for the Arts, Fairfield Community Arts Center and Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum will feature a variety of hands-on art activities, live music, dance and more that day.

Lisa Wolter, vice president of the Community Campaign at ArtsWave said ArtsWave, has reimagined its 30-plus-year tradition of the Sampler program, and turned it into 12 different events, ArtsWave Days, Brought to You by Macy’s.

“We wanted to provide an opportunity for people to connect more with the arts during our official campaign timeline. …We’ll have 12 ArtsWave Days during our public campaign,” said Wolter.

ArtsWave Days kicked off on Saturday, Feb. 3, and will span over three months during the 2018 ArtsWave Community Campaign. Each Saturday, through April 21, ArtsWave Days will feature a set of curated events with a different theme, focus and venue. There will be more than 100 free community performances at 39 locations over the course of the campaign.

“The one big, new thing this year is if you go to any of the events, you can check-in at the events, and post on social media, etc., to earn ‘waves,’ and we’re going to have a special drawing at the end of the ArtsWave Days,” Wolter said.

In conjunction with the campaign and ArtsWave Days, ArtsWave will launch a new loyalty program, called “ArtsWave Rewards,” to encourage community engagement. This free program offers “waves” that roll up to “rewards” that can be accumulated for chances to win weekly prizes throughout the 2018 Community Campaign.

The grand prize for the 2018 Community Campaign is a Cincy Arts Staycation: two tickets to Hamilton, a room at the 21C Museum Hotel, dinner at Boca, breakfast at Metropole, and a $500 shopping spree at Macy’s, including personal shopper assistance.

To join ArtsWave Rewards, download the ArtsWave Guide, via its app, which can be found in the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play. (ArtsWave Rewards will be added to ArtsWave Guide within the next 10 days.)

A few of the other ArtsWave Days highlights will include a Date Night on Feb. 17 complete with wine tastings and performances at three Over-the-Rhine venues, Beer Choir Games on Feb. 24 at Urban Artifact, featuring members from more than 25 local choral organizations, such as May Festival Chorus and Cincinnati Men’s Chorus and a Jazz, Gospel and Arts day on March 3 at Eden Park.
