“VUE Year’s Eve” was the bittersweet final hoorah for the popular Centerville bar and nightclub as they shut their doors for good. However, they were not going out without first defending their 2017 Bloody Mary Showdown title.
Last January, Vue Ultra Lounge’s Scott Conrad and Mack’s Tavern’s MacKenzie Manley came to a draw after Dayton’s finest bartenders went head-to-head to decide whose Bloody Mary reigned supreme. This year, Scott Conrad was able to edge out the competition and claim the title of Best Bloody Mary for Vue Ultra Lounge.
“While the basic recipe for the Bloody Mary is vodka and tomato juice, there are so many variations to the tastes and people really seem to take pride in the fact that they make the best one,” said Lisa Grigsby, who put the event on with Jeff Jackson and their Planned2Give organization.
The Bloody Mary Showdown returned for its third year on Jan. 14, 2018 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Coliseum, 1043 S. Main St., Dayton.
14 bartenders represented these local restaurants for the 2018 competition:
-Fifth Street Brewpub
-Jimmie’s Ladder 11
-Mr. Boro’s Tavern
-Mudlick Tap House
-Old Scratch Pizza
