Get ready to snap your best #museumselfie tomorrow — here’s why

If only Mona Lisa had lived long enough to show us her #selfie. We’re almost positive she would have been a pro.

Wednesday, January 17, is National Museum Selfie Day, and there's no better day to pose with your favorite portrait.

It’s not every day you get to shamelessly snap away in public. But on this national day of exquisite art and cheesy photo-ops, it’s not time to stop until your arm gets tired.

The Dayton Art Institute wants to see how strong your selfie game is.

So visit the museum, snap a selfie, and tag it on social media with #MuseumSelfie and #DAIselfie and the Art Institute will share their favorites  on their social media accounts.

Of course, you're free to "selfie" all over town at any one of Dayton's exciting museums — so don't hold back!

“Have fun and be creative, but please remember to be mindful/respectful of other museum guests, keep an appropriate distance from the art, and no selfie sticks or tripods in the galleries!” the DAI advises on its Facebook page.

The Cincinnati Museum Center is getting in on the fun as well. Take selfies with the museum's collection items at any of its #CurateMyCommunity locations. Use the hashtags #MuseumSelfie and #CincyMuseumSelfie.
