1) SO. OHIO INDOOR MUSIC FEST

Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers continue to expand its international fan base through recordings and touring. However, the members of the bluegrass group always make sure to be back home twice a year to host the Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival. The showcase of bluegrass and acoustic music returns to Roberts Convention Centre, 123 Gano Road, Wilmington, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11.

The autumn installment of the twice-yearly festival features performances by acts such as Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Lonesome Rivers Band, Paul Williams, Dale Ann Bradley, the Larry Stephenson Band and, of course, Mullins and his award-winning Radio Ramblers. The Southern Ohio Indoor Music Festival is a family-friendly, smoke- and alcohol-free event.

2) BARSTOOL OPEN

For more than 60 years, United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton (URS) has been helping improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities and other special needs. To support this mission, URS raises money in a variety of ways. One of its most unique fundraising events is the Barstool Open. The annual nine-hole, nine-bar indoor miniature golf tournament, which travels through bars in the Historic Oregon District in Dayton, begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. 3) DPO CHAMBER CONCERT

The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra will showcase a few of its heavy-hitting musicians when it presents a Chamber Series concert in the Dayton Art Institute's Renaissance Auditorium, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12. The program, "Prokofiev: Art of the Sonata," features concertmaster Jessica Hung (violin), associate concertmaster Aurelian Oprea (violin) and Zsolt Bognar (piano). 4) HOLIDAY ON ICE

Each holiday season, Dayton Visual Arts Center, 118 N. Jefferson St., Dayton, becomes a one-stop-shop for original art during its annual Holiday Gift Gallery. Interested art lovers can get an early look at this year's featured works when DVAC hosts Holiday on Ice from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16. The annual event features an Artful Cocktail Mix-off and a preview of the Holiday Gift Gallery, which is open Nov. 17 through Dec. 24. Cost: $20 DVAC members, $25 non-members. 5) NATIONAL A CAPPELLA FEST

More than 60 high school and college a cappella groups will converge on Fairmont High School in Kettering, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10 and 11. Kettering National A Cappella Festival, the largest event of its kind in the United States, will be an opportunity for the students to work with teachers and professional artists but the event also features a pair of public concerts. Several student groups will perform with headliners Freedoms Boombox at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Headliners Voice Play will be joined by Fairmont High School vocal groups Fusion and Eleventh Hour at 7 p.m. Saturday. Cost: $15 Friday and $20 Saturday. Call 937-499-2647 or visit www.acafest.org.

6) BIG BEERS & BARLEY WINES

Attention craft brew lovers: Big Beers & Barley Wines is returning on Saturday, Nov. 11. The annual tasting event, at the Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Center, 500 Belmont Park North, Dayton, from 5 to 8 p.m., is a fundraiser for Resident Home Association (RHA). Offerings include Barleywines such as 10&2 by 50 West, Eudora's Hullabaloo and Old Redhooker by Sixpoint and craft beers such as Thirsty Dog's BA Wulver Scotch ale, Vanilla BA Black Maple porter by Jackie O's and Yellow Springs Brewery's Maxxdout 2016 vintage impy stout. 7) HIGH NOON

The Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton's Cultural Arts & Book Festival continues to offer diverse programming. Next up on the schedule is "High Noon: The Hollywood Blacklist" featuring a movie screening of the 1952 western followed by a presentation on the film by Pulitzer Prize-winner Glenn Frankel. This program is presented at The Neon, 130 E. Fifth St., Dayton, at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15. Cost: $9. The festival continues with "Extreme Measures: Finding a Better Path to the End of Life" with author Jessica Nutick Zitter. 8) YOU VS. YESTERDAY

Like many modern groups, You Vs. Yesterday focuses on releasing shorter EPs over full-length albums. That approach, which can often be quicker and less expensive to produce, is working for the local punk-pop band, which is set to release its third EP, "How's This for Honesty." You Vs. Yesterday will celebrate the occasion with a release party at Rockstar Pro Arena, 1106 E. Third St., Dayton, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. 9) TABLETOP GAMING CON

In the age of smartphones and endlessly streaming content, it can be a nice break to disconnect from technology and engage in truly interactive ways with friends and family. One way to do that is through board games and role-playing games. Enthusiasts of these pastimes will converge on Dayton Convention Center, 22 E. Fifth St., Dayton, this weekend for AcadeCon. The RPG Academy Faculty presents the 5th annual tabletop gaming convention Friday through Sunday, Nov. 10 through 12. 10) CHRISTMAS AT AUSTIN LANDING

A 51-foot tree will be featured as the holiday season at Austin Landing kicks into gear Saturday with the Kettering Physician Christmas Tree Lighting and Winter Market.  The market runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the tree lighting set for 6:30 p.m. at The Park at Austin Landing.  RELATED: Alternative ways to spend Thanksgiving The market will feature more than two dozen vendors, offering a variety of items ranging from hand-crafted items, apparel boutiques and home-baked goods. A Toys for Tots drop-off site will be inside the market.  Festivities surrounding the tree lighting will begin at 6 p.m. Santa will kick off the event with a Veterans Day Jeep Parade. Holiday activities will include a performance from Jeanie Moreland Dancers, face painting and games.  A photo booth will be featured, as will hot cocoa and health screenings.
