This time it looks like it’s real but also selective.
YouTube will be introducing what they term specialist channels and it may come as early as this week.
The report comes from the Financial Times and it claims up to 50 channels will be pay as you go. A spokesman said YouTube is "looking into creating a subscription platform that could bring even more great content to YouTube for our users to enjoy."
Most are said to require as little as $1.99 per month for unlimited viewing.
No word yet in which channels would be pay and which free but early indications are groups like World Wrestling Entertainment and the Onion.
Nervous groups are wondering if cat videos will be included.
There is no announcement set as of yet
If the move happens it could set up a huge battle between and Netflix as well as other internet based, on demand services.
YouTube recently passed the one billion user mark.
