The tennis season opened last week with the majority of the MAC men's and women's teams hitting the court.
The spring season of Mid-American Conference tennis has finally arrived, and it appears that we will have the usual suspects atop of the food chain in both men's and women's competition. Western Michigan was selected in the preseason to repeat as MAC Tournament champions on the men's side following its tenth conference title under head coach David Morin. For the women, Miami was the favorite to repeat after earning its fifth straight regular season conference title and third MAC Tournament title overall.
Toledo (0-4): The Rockets have had a rough start to the season as three of their four losses came to nationally ranked teams in Michigan, Notre Dame, and Purdue last weekend. They will have to turn it around this weekend as they face Duquesne in their first home match of the season prior to hitting the road again to square off against No. 5 Ohio State.
Northern Illinois (0-1): The Huskies dropped a 3-4 decision to Drake to start their season. NIU hosts IPFW and Chicago State on Friday.
Western Michigan (3-1): The Broncos have looked impressive as they earned 7-0 victories against Detroit, Illinois-Chicago, and Chicago State to kick off the season. Their loss came at No. 26 Michigan in a 2-5 decision. WMU travels to Cleveland State on Friday.
Buffalo (1-0): On Sunday, the Bulls emerged triumphant as they defeated Cornell 4-3. UB does not have a match this week.
Ball State (2-0): In their home opener last weekend, the Cardinals won 7-0 and 5-2 against Detroit Mercy and IPFW respectively. BSU takes on Cleveland State at Muncie on Sunday.

EMU dropped a 1-6 decision to Minnesota for its lone loss. They have three more matches this weekend as they host Butler on Friday, IPFW on Saturday, and Oakland on Sunday.
Ball State (2-1): The Cardinals picked up two victories last weekend as they downed both Valparaiso and IUPUI 7-0 before falling 2-4 at Kentucky. BSU hosts Oakland Friday before hitting the road to take on Michigan State on Sunday.
Akron (4-0): The Zips continue to be major players in the MAC as they earned wins over Robert Morris, West Virginia, Dayton, and Wright State to start the season. UA hits the road this weekend to face off against Cleveland State on Saturday.
