About 50 area churches and other organizations hosted the annual Day of Caring Pancake Brunch on Sunday, Feb. 27. Here at Fairhaven Church in Centerville, 75-90 volunteers prepared for about 1,000 meals. Proceeds from the event go to area hunger and housing coalitions.

University of Dayton senior Ebony Gainey started for the first and last time in her basketball college career Saturday February 26 against Fordham University at UD Arena. In her freshman season she was found to have a serious heart defect and could no longer play. For four years she remained on the roaster. Gainey played high school ball at Meadowdale High School in Dayton. Saturday was Senior Day and all seniors players were honored.
