When the Russel family decided to build a home in 2005 they wanted acreage around it. They chose a five-acre lot at 445 Wilson Road in Troy with a creek at its edge and a thick tree line for privacy.

The Ridler Award is the Oscar for hot rod builders and, this weekend, Carlisle’s Don Pilkenton is being honored for winning three of them. Pilkenton is center stage at Meguiar’s Detroit Autorama where he is being honored as Builder of the Year, the equivalent of the lifetime achievement award.
