After all the news about recalled pet food, a lot of pet owners may be looking for alternatives.

There's one in Kettering.

Extras

PawsAGoGo is the exclusive distributor for Pet Chef Express, which makes food at a family-owned plant in Ohio. The company produces food that uses no additives or preservatives, and has no fillers, animal by-products, chemicals, sweeteners, soy, dyes or artificial colors, according to the company.

The food's first ingredient is protein (chicken meal, chicken, catfish, lamb, etc.) Other ingredients include eggs, lysine, omega fatty acids, Vitamin E, kelp meal and glucosamine.

Owner Marianne Bailey swears even the pickiest eaters will eat the food, which can be delivered throughout Ohio.

The foods are nutrient dense, which means most are digested and little is left in the backyard.

To get more information or request a sample, visit www.PawsAGoGo.com or call (937) 242-6679 or toll free at (866) 327-9394.

Walk for Strays set for June 2

The Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals will hold its ninth annual Walk for Strays June 2 at Delco Park in Kettering. The 2.1-mile event features people and their dogs, as well as vendors, contests and food. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Registration is $25. For another $25 a walker can get a T-shirt. Unlike past years, walkers are being encouraged to register by May 30.

The goal of the Walk for Strays is to raise awareness of the numbers of stray and unwanted animals in our community and to educate about the importance of spaying and neutering. All proceeds help pay the medical and animal care expenses.

To register, visit www.sicsa.org or pick up a brochure at SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Pike, Kettering, most area vet clinics and other businesses. For more information, call (937) 294-6505.

The Pet Advocate League encourages those attending to bring a pet food item to be donated to food pantries for pets in need.
